Glass Museum
The museum is located on a plot drawing on the wooded countryside which shapes the landscape. Backing onto the trees to the west, the building looks east, with views which embrace the landscape. Playing with the elevation, our building carves out a shape which seems to emerge from the ground. The fragmented nature and the layout meet two objectives: offering buildings which reflect the existing landscape, faithfully reflecting the functional organisation. Like glass, our museum uses an even material. These pure structures are covered on all sides with Hénault stone. It reacts to the light by reflecting the landscape and giving resonance and depth to the facades. The chiselled edges of the museum offer a precise shape reflecting the crystalline structure of silica, the material used to make glass. The museum and garden interact by the major two-level exhibition room, which acts as an interface by linking the museum’s two levels.
