London College of Fashion
The new home for UAL's London College of Fashion has been conceived as a 21st century atelier-workshop, its design inspired by the19th century mill buildings common to many industrial cities. Outwardly unpretentious and robust, it contains multiple complex and process-driven internal arrangements that are adaptable to change. Fully exploiting the benefits of bringing all departments together for the first time in the institution’s history, the sculptural circulation and shared spaces at the heart of the building actively encourage planned and incidental interaction, exploration and a sense of shared identity.
Now occupied by 5,000 students and faculty, the building is one of the largest dedicated to the study and research of fashion in the world and forms a key piece of East Bank’s cultural quarter.
