HVG Office and Workshop Building
The new HVG office and workshop building stands confidently on a prominent corner plot in Heilbronn's industrial area in the immediate vicinity of the university campus. With its modern charm and industrial straight lines, it blends in with its industrial surroundings, but its innovative design sets a clear urban accent with a great long-distance effect. The new building combines functionality with appealing aesthetics.
As a special feature of the building, the façade was designed with perforated and powder-coated, pearl-grey aluminum sheets in the parking and access areas. Despite the uniform material, a richly textured façade was created by staggering the individual façade elements.
Black-grey and likewise powder-coated smooth sheets stand out in terms of color and break up the homogeneity of the façade material. On the two upper storeys, all-round window fronts complement the transparency of the building both inside and out. This creates different impressions and images in changing light conditions. At night, the illuminated building resembles an illuminated city block. The flat roof was greened and fitted with solar collectors to ensure the company's hot water supply is sustainable. A fire-resistant and stable concrete frame construction was chosen as the basic structure of the new building, which can withstand the daily stress of vehicles and workshop equipment.
Of the five floors, the two upper floors are intended for office and workshop space. In the levels below, there are three parking levels with space for 120 vehicles. By integrating the parking facilities into the operational area, wittfoht architekten are responding to the increasingly scarce resource of land. A further advantage of this new use of the available space is the resulting short distances for employees and the optimal design of the building in terms of energy and construction.
With a contemporary and modern design, the office and workshop levels create a pleasant working environment. The glazing of the work areas creates natural light conditions and inspires with the view over the surrounding area, while the integrated sun protection guarantees sufficient shade in the interior in the event of excessive sunlight. The modern furnishings, clear structures and the emphasis on the visibility of the building materials used make reference to the company's industrial focus.
