Regents Park Road
Situated on a prominent corner of Regent’s Park Road in Primrose Hill, London, the project involved creating three flats for short-term rental above the ground floor retail unit. The building’s expansion included a new two-story street-facing extension and the conversion of the existing roof space.
The interior design emphasises a play of light and dark to accentuate volumes, planes, and surfaces. Each flat is designed to have a character that complements its position in the building.
The top-floor flat features an oak-lined pitched roof, juxtaposed with a striking double-height black wall treated as an internal facade. This wall incorporates a series of openings to introduce light and establish connections between living spaces. The flat on the first floor has a lateral layout with the accommodation
accessed by a main hallway, defined by a sequence of full-height fluted black panelling and roof-lit space high skylights, using a vertical gesture to break up the length of the distribution space.
Internally, the new soft grey staircase defines a contemporary language for the common parts, which continues into each flat. The material palette plays with an optical effect given by small and geometric black and white tiles, balanced by the light timber chosen for the steps.
