Casa 3X3
he 3X3 house is located on a lot between party walls in the lower part of San Isidro, its front has a south-southeast orientation, so the best sunlight conditions are at the back. Two other factors determine the position of the house, on the one hand the flood level of the site forces it to rise one meter twenty above street level, on the other hand the need to distance itself from the pedestrian path to guarantee a certain degree of privacy.
The programs are organized in a grid of nine quadrants superimposed on two levels, the first has social uses and the second the most intimate. In plan, the grid is manifested by the structural support of standardized profiles, leaving an access market on one side articulated by a sequence of ramps, semi-covered areas and a patio. The central quadrant is a void that gives access to the house and vertically links both floors, in its adjacent one all the toilets are condensed, freeing the two remaining hemispheres for social use. The latter have the same dimensions and are distinguished only by their relationship with the outside, allowing the free appropriation and transformation of space by users. The front hemisphere is related to a contained and serene garden that mediates the relationship with the city, while the rear hemisphere is related to a more active background garden, where the pool and outdoor recreation areas are located.
The upper floor makes use of the support offered by the lower grid to arrange a masonry wall box, achieving better energy efficiency records, thermal and acoustic conditioning and a greater degree of intimacy for the more private use environments. Above the ground floor toilets are the upper floor toilets, in the opposite quadrant the ground floor patio extends upwards giving rise to a glazed panel that provides natural light to the central void. The staircase is complemented by a walkway that links the secondary bedroom sector to the front, mediated by a games space, and the master bedroom, dressing room and private terrace to the rear.
