Bränningevägen
Challenged by the expensive craftmen costs in Stockholm, the architect undertook the design and renovation of the apartment independently. In this process, the empowering potential of DIY and off-the-shelf materials became apparent: the space and its elements deliberately retained a raw, unfinished quality.
The intervention included liberating the load-bearing brick wall from its plaster confines, stripping the original solid wooden wall of plasterboard, and applying raw gypsum plaster to other walls and ceiling. The introduction of a solid lerch wooden paving not only enhances the tactile experience but also instills a workshop ambiance. Crucially, all materials utilized were both affordable and
locally sourced from the hardware store.
The result is an atmosphere of perpetual transformation—an unfinished and abstract space where every element is a canvas for change. In embracing the ethos of DIY, raw materials, and abstraction, this architectural venture transcends conventional norms, inviting a dynamic engagement with the evolving nature of
the surroundings.
