CASA MAGNOLIA
This house is a sequence of one-dimensional modules that aim to adapt to a diverse context. In an irregular plot with a narrow front and a broad back, adjacent to five neighbors, plain and with a risk of flooding, we proposed a house elevated from the natural terrain with social areas that take the geometric core of the plot, separated from its limits by services and courtyards.
The program consists of a modular composition based on two formats: one open and the other dense, organized in square figures of six by six meters and twelve units with living spaces, each with a metallic structure on its outer limits. The repetition of the structural module on two levels resolves the entire space. Grouping dense modules with the service program are near the boundaries, and the others are associated with each other at the heart of the plot, seeking spaces surrounded by vegetation and far from the edges, and sliding windows enable the open areas to be considered interior or exterior.
The optimization of the steel, the measurements, and the spaces were considered to define the dimensions. Therefore, six-meter-long metal beams and columns configure the module to repeat. The succession of these allows large continuous spaces subdivided by some non-load-bearing walls to make a flexible dwelling.
