Casa a Sant Llorenç Savall
A single-family house located on the edge of the Sant Llorenç de Munt Natural Park, in a beautiful plot on the outskirts of the village. The main aim of the proposal is to blend the house into the surrounding landscape, allowing a life in contact with nature.
The house is located in the northern area of the plot, protected by a small natural embankment to the west, and with its main façade facing south-east, opening towards the views and sunlight.
The House is built in a compact two-level volume, maximizing the entrance of natural light and allowing for an optimal cross ventilation of the interior spaces, obtaining a very energy-efficient house with a low consumption of active resources.
A series of light pergolas are arranged around the main volume, becoming an outdoors extension of the house and acting as climate control devices. A longitudinal planted pergola is arranged along the main façade, which acts as a porch for the house and protects the groundfloor from overheating in the summer months. To the west, a large covered pergola as an open-air “hall” becomes an ideal space for all types of recreational activities and/ or social gatherings.
The groundfloor contains the living areas of the house, with a flexible spatial configuration where the living areas are placed around the open kitchen, which becomes the core of the home. On the upper floor, the bedrooms and bathroom areas are arranged in a longitudinal scheme that allows all rooms to have a large window facing the views.
The house is built using a lightweight construction system with low environmental impact, using wood as the main construction element and taking advantage of its high-energy performance and its intrinsic material qualities, obtaining exposed ceilings that add beauty and comfort to the interior spaces. The vertical structure is built using CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) panels, while the slabs are built using a light framework of laminated wood beams and light CLT panels.
