Rénovation of the a triplex apartment
Located on the top floors of a building on Avenue Ledru Rollin in Paris, this former duplex benefited from a high ceiling. The clients, seeking to combine space optimization and profitability, asked us to add an additional floor to accommodate an extra bedroom.
The new floor is centralized above the vertical circulation. It divides the living room from the kitchen, while allowing transparencies created in order to benefit from a double exposure.
The openings created under the roof and the hanging mirror bring a play of light into the living room.
Under this floor, the salmon color contrasts with the immaculate atmosphere of the living room and gives a warmer spirit to the bar that will be there.
In the kitchen, where white is the dominant color - cupboards, table top, walls and floor, contrast with the green tiles of the mezzanine floor, reflecting light and bringing contradiction. The color underlines here the presence of this new structure, while giving it its floating side, and by creating visual breakthroughs.
The staircase leading to the top floor floats: in folded sheet steel, its thin edge is visible from the kitchen, cutting through the railing in perforated sheet metal designed to measure with customers.
The original staircase of the duplex has been completely redesigned. A seat and storage have been imagined at its base, overlooking a shared open space and the entrance to the triplex. This seat, made to measure by a painter, offers a precious side to the entrance of the apartment.
