CASA VAGANTES SAN SEBASTIAN
Located in a traditional neighborhood in downtown Merida, the house sits upon a long and narrow plot, occupying the existing rooms at the front and taking advantage of the remaining space at the back to place the new program.
The unusual proportions of the site are a product of the many divisions the original plot has sustained along its existence. These conditions and the hospitality character of the project allow for unconventional solutions on space organization.
A site lecture showed a consolidation of the existing construction and a linear arrangement of the new spaces as the evident answer. Rooms and patios are contained along a single wall, allowing for total transparency across the project and merging the interior-exterior conditions. The yellow covered surfaces strengthen the intervention meaning as a single piece that changes its appearance along the day.
