Alberschwende Kreuzareal Residential Development
The steep site, once home to the Kreuz Guesthouse, stretches between two busy roads in Alberschwende’s dense core. As the site is witness to traffic bottlenecks caused by tightly packed existing buildings, the design concept places two compact volumes perpendicular to each adjacent road. Both residential structures adopt the urban rhythm of their immediate vicinities and the neighbourhood’s characteristics. In reference to the local architectural tradition, the additions have façades made from regional timber as well as hip roofs.
