TN16 STUDIO COLLECTIVE COPENHAGEN
Johansen Skovsted, Djernes & Bell and office Kim Lenshow have transformed an old stable & utility building from 1825 in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen into their new Studio Collective TN16.
The renovation was focussed on retaining and repairing the existing building parts, as well as a fit-out with minimal new materials or inventory. Internal surfaces and woodwork have been restored and repainted, and simple modular furniture have been assembled using scaffolding and archival storage systems. The tabletops are made on-site from lumbar board treated with locally made linseed oils, the meeting room table is made up of the resulting off-cut timber. The archival shelving system has been chosen as an extension of the existing systems the studios had in their old office. Woollen curtains made from fabric which had been damaged during production and did not pass quality-control, the curtains allow separation of the model-workshop and entrance area from the 'tegnesal' (drawing hall). Notice boards and acoustic panels are by local Søuld, and are mounted using packaging from the shelving systems.
