Apartment Rio delle Romite
The project concerns the renovation of a flat in the Dorsoduro sestiere in Venice. The 19th-century building housing the flat faces west towards the Rio delle Romite, and east towards a private garden.
The project starts from this condition and the desire to connect these two moments. The intervention, which relies primarily on small demolitions, defines a system of new passages within the flat.
These new pathways, which run through the rooms of the dwelling, determine a new condition of continuity between the windows towards the canal and those towards the garden. The light passing through them becomes the way by which this distance is measured.
The rooms are not just autonomous elements, but consequential elements that belong to a larger, more territorial system. Infinite.
