Located on typical neighborhood in Lisbon, on the ground floor of a building built in the turn of the 19th century, where in 1980s happened a huge interior intervention. That intervention changed the structure of the original build, changing the use from a unique house for 2 apartments.
At the ground floor where at the beginning was the main access to the interior patio, they close the access and did an office in an open space reinforcing the structure with steel beans. At the façade they didn’t change nothing that means they leave the big wood doble door.
That was our starting point to the project, an open space with a not clean geometry, and an insufficient natural light.
We draw one straight line as work a functional wall and order de space. A wall in natural pine wood where is a pantry, a small kitchenet, and the access to the technical room, archive room and bathroom.
To can used always the space with the door open and get more natural light we created a glass partition wall with a structure in wood beans painting in black. To get the main room as orthogonal space, this glass wall continues to the other side creating a small meeting room.
About the materials we try to contrast the cements continue floor with the warm pine wood. Just exist an appointment of color with the mint green used at the existing metal beans.
