Dining room with a patio
The extension offers an architectural solution maximizing the link between the living rooms and the garden. The project includes the development of a dining room and a kitchen. These functions are organized around a patio to naturally light the rooms within the projected volume. It also creates visual relationships between old and new, and a stronger relationship with the outdoors. This patio is connected to the garden by a staircase in order to bring it back to the heart of the project.
As a preliminary to the intervention, the pre-existing extensions are partially demolished and reorganized by the new project. This installs the new living room in an intermediate level between the main body of the house and the level of the garden.
The use of wood, for the structure left visible as well as for the coating of the interior walls, completely unifies the intervention by using only one and the same architectural language. The curtain walls are equipped with wooden stiffeners that fully express themselves, sequence the transitions and enliven the elevations. Inside the patio, an openwork fir cladding placed vertically reinforces the feeling of warmth and interiority. Large sliding glass doors offer a panoramic view of the garden.
The heat of the building materials is tempered by the use of raw concrete as a floor covering. The facade on the garden side receives a different treatment in order to harmonize with the logic of the neighboring buildings: a dark facing brick integrates the annex into the context while expressing the massiveness of the volume.
