Europan 16 Award Winner, Living Cities _ Special Honours
Europan session 16 was entitled “Living Cities - Metabolic Vitalities & Inclusive Vitalities”
The notion of “living city” refers to the notions of environment, evolution and adaptation. The living is characterized in particular by movement, in time and space. Our project is defined according to this first entry according to the three temporalities specific to the site : the tide, the unstable time related to the climatic hazards; the day, short and recurring time of the daily life; the seasons, time of the human and natural constructions. These cycles translate the constant dynamics of the living city. Its uses are multiple and evolving. The constructions, plantations, and paths create links between the districts and the topography. The natural spaces communicate with each other through the movement of water and interaction of biotopes.
In response to the subject of the competition, we propose for Quimper the vision of a neighbourhood that would be aware of it’s natural rhythms. The Rozmaria district will be the starting point for a dynamic integration of nature in the city. A start towards a more resilient and attractive urban space.
