COUNTRY DISCOCLUB
Surrounded by an extensive green space, Country Discoclub is a historical nightclub in Palermo City. The aim was to re-establish the strong interaction between indoors and outdo- ors that determines the uniqueness of the place. The project challenge was designing interventions aimed at revitalizing its image without compromising its authenticity.
The entrance is outlined by compact volumes upholstered by black corrugated sheets which articulate the different access routes. The indoor space is an open space where vegetation and architectural elements are deeply interconnected. Among those, the leading role is played by "DOMINO" elements: parallelepiped in an elongated rectangular shape, produced with a metallic skeleton and micro-perforated metal-sheet panels to determine an undefined filter enlightened by led bars. Dimmed lights visually define the dance floor and the privès in a fast-paced space, accompanying the users indoors.
Hygenic services were conceived as mono-ma- terial and monochromatic boxes through the use of a full-body mosaic, interrupted only by large mirrors that reflect the colorful light coming from vertical lighting fixtures. Behind the project was the intention of restricting the mixture between different materials.
The near-total presence of black metal-sheet panels, operated in different finishes (corruga- ted, micro-perforated, smooth), gives unique- ness to the entire project. It accompanies another pivotal element: vegetation.
Synthesis of this principle is the verdant back- ground that acts as a wallpaper for one of the privès. A basin where a translucent backlit wall catches a glimpse of dense vegetation.
