Officies avenue Parmentier
The project aims to preserve as much as possible the patrimonial identity of this building, whose construction began in 1887 and consisted of successive additions according to the needs of the users. In 2018, the Groupe Terrot asked DATA Architectes to proceed to a full refurbishment of the existing building in order to establish a new tertiary complex.
Our first move was to restore the existing building to its original state as designed and built initially by architect Julien Morize. The building was intended to house a family company, whose activities were both industrial and administrative; the family was also living in the building on the first and second floors.
Following a precise analysis of the existing building, we aimed to enhance the historical elements of the building that were severely altered, by carefully restoring all the architectural details with traditional techniques (cornices, facades, modenatures, chimneys).
The challenge was to recover the great simplicity of the original composition of the building, by demolishing the numerous partitions obstructing spaces. The floors, thus freed, are perfectly adapted to the new requirements and offer optimal conditions of light and space for the workers.
Subsequently to our project, the building finds its distribution improved, with a new circulation core in the north-east wing. A basement level is also created in order to provide shared spaces under a circular glass roof.
