Footbridge Léon Tchiniss
The structure links the place Vivegnis to the ‘Coteaux’ and overpasses the railways. The steel footbridge has a span of 29.5 m and is supported at one side by an old retaining wall and at the other side by a prismatic wood structure.
The goal was not to compromise the vast potential of the land adjoining place Vivegnis while being economical, that led the architects to choose a prismatic wooden structure that contains the oblique ramps and landings.
At the top, a clearing area provides a privileged view of the square and the district. It is one of the supports of the horizontal footbridge which rises above the rails to reach the first grassy plateau of the Coteaux. Stairs constitute by-passes which allow a variety of routes according to moods, fears, means of transport.
