BALAY
The design of an event venue of about 200 square meters in Trani is based on the idea of rearranging the existing venue and create different flexible settings.
The introduction of a number of custom designed furniture allows different configurations of the space, according to the number of guests and the type of event.
The space initially appeared incoherent and dispersive, with points of discontinuity along the walls.
Therefore we decided to introduce a multi-purpose element able to connect the different areas and act as a filter between the user and the service areas.
The key design elements, introduced to improve the flexibility of the spaces and characterize them in their function, are two sculptural concrete elements (pillar and countertop) and a system of metal rails that support curtains, cushions and lamps.
On the oblique truncated cone pillar ends the semicircular rail that holds a blue velvet curtain, which compresses or expands the space and acts as a wing of the stage for musical events.
The concrete countertop next to the window overlooking the external area, together with the rail above, define an informal area. The choice of the pending lamps also follows the same logic, in fact they can be placed on the counter or along the rail depending on the needs.
The multifunctional closet is designed to include the access to the kitchen, a storage and toilet areas. Next to the three entrances there are three filter area that can be perceived as an extension or part of the scenic wing.
The closet also integrates various element in the service of the different areas: a plexiglass wine cellar close to the tasting area, a shelving system that can be used by the staff in the room, a bench in the more informal area.
The use of color and the chosen furnitures aim to define an elegant but also informal space.
