GB65 - Office and Library
GB65 - Office and Library occupy different floors of the same building, located in the Jardins district of São Paulo. Taking into account the need of wide and well-connected spaces, the office is defined by the modular rhythm of a metal shelf that occupies the entire space in its longitudinal direction and organizes its uses and circulations. The white steel bookcase is made up of sliding panels and light shelves, which together offer flexible support for the most diverse activities that take place at the office. The unity of the space is accentuated by the hydraulic tiles, which permeates the entire floor.
In the library, located a few floors above, the spatial organization is based on a structural system in Japanese-style joinery that guarantees great resistance through the lashing of slender pieces of wood. This system was unfolded into many different types of furniture: shelves, tables and carts. Considering the challenge of storing a collection of more than 8000 items, the design of these shelves took into account all the load and variation of dimensions of the books and objects, merging functionality with beauty and lightness. The use of few materials (cement floor, white walls and ceiling and wooden furniture) enhanced the design of the furniture and the objects on display.
