Concino Concrete
The site creates a wonderful scenery where the changes in the low tide and high tide harmonize with the setting sun against the backdrop of the North Korean landscape that goes beyond the Imjin River to Songak Mountain in the distance. However, the moment he realizes that the splendor of the scenery cannot be visited, the history of division and its essence are inseparable, the emotion soon turns into silence, and the sadness and wretchedness become silent cries and echo. With this in the background, we plan a space for music.
As the site goes up, the visible area of the Imjin River expands, creating a dramatic landscape. A cross section is a concept. The ground floor is the piloti parking lot, the 2nd floor is the main performance hall, the 3rd floor is a private viewing area, and the 4th floor is the residence. The piloti on the 1st floor and the performance space on the 2nd floor are of sufficient height to be a space of appropriate proportions to resonate with scaled music. The sound path is created by connecting the spaces on the 3rd and 4th floors. This is where sight and hearing meet.
What should be made of architecture that corresponds to the sense of touch? The physical properties of the cement block, which are not often used in the city center, were appropriate for surrounding environments such as Paju, division, military bases, and fir forests. In the elevation, the same weight was distributed to the joints, and there was a gap in the view. The experience of Concino Concrete with such a variety of spaces is also limitless.
It is a combination of various permutations and combinations, such as places where a balanced sound is emphasized as the main audience, but where the sound is changed according to the sound path, places where the view is emphasized, and bright and dark places. It becomes interesting to appreciate the space created after long consideration about which places go with which music and which people are satisfied.
