Physical recovery center - technoforme
Athletes go green:
The Technoforme is set up in a remaining pine forest on the Luminy Campus in the heart of the Calanques National Park. Stuck between two sport halls, the building is dedicated to physical education students (STAPS) and professional athletes. The building is full of endurance machines, body-building and other measuring equipment. One must show muscles and look strong! The sports rooms, which can extend in the hall and outdoors, are delimited by 5 servant blocks. A tight budget and the forest fire restrictions reduced the project to its bare minimum. It looks as if it has been compacted into itself, with no fat. Inside, no embellishment, the ducts are exposed under the raw concrete slabs. An exposed engine. The green floor refers to the synthetic turf of the stadium next door. As large as possible, the windows frame the views on what remains of the pine forest. Outside, all the building is cladded in green scales. 550 m² of glazed terracotta tiles cover the facades to blend the building in the pine forest and the Calanques Massif. The changeable light in the glaze of the tiles gives the illusion of movement.
