MODUL'AIR
The program, intended to be evolutionary, combines offices, workshops, an event location as well as a covered flight area for testing and demonstrating drones. The project is embedded in the urban conversion project of the former military air base 217 in Brétigny-sur-Orge and constitutes one of the first components of this vast development. By installing this unique place for the drone sector at this site, a new chapter is added to the long history of technical innovations of the B.A.217 in the aeronautical field.
Following the development of the urban project to come, the Modul’Air itself has been imagined above all to allow high adaptability of its uses, aiming for future flexibility of spaces up to a relocation, various extensions or even a reduction.
Except for the concrete base, all further works could be carried out in dry construction thanks to an overall envelope formed by a metal bearing structure carrying the roof as well as the facades which are composed either of metal cladding or of translucent polycarbonate or glazing.
Inside, partition walls and intermediate levels in metal structure differentiate large areas. Sheltered by this envelope, former shipping containers that priorly had been transformed and equipped according to their new use, are installed on three levels. Forming a second skin they provide higher comfort to smaller spaces where more specific uses take place. These piles of containers carry open access corridors. Offices, built in a light metal structure and open onto a large triple-height volume are organized along the south-east facade offering a collective space where events can take place.
