The project of complete interior reconfiguration succeeds in transforming the housing space by redefining its functional scheme with respect to the orientation. the perception of spaces changes completely through the design of fixed furniture.
The starting condition of the house offered an incorrect division of the rooms with respect to functions, paths and light, amplifying the problems caused by the narrow and long structure of the house. The design choices have therefore radically modified the system, defining a clear separation between the sleeping area, facing north, and the day area facing east, preserving the position of the toilets, one of which is for the exclusive use of the double bedroom.
The connecting path between the entrance and the living room represents a design opportunity for space optimization through the creation of a multifunction storage unit: pocket emptier with mirror at the entrance, closet, storage unit, entrance doors for laundry and utility room. The laundry, directly connected to the kitchen, also acts as a "service" connection between the bedrooms and the kitchen, thus defining a hierarchy of main and secondary paths.
The living room, which coincides with the short side of the house, opens up to different configurations, thanks to the large sliding door, that defines a more intimate dining space, extension of the kitchen, and a larger and more representative living area, in which the sofas, the TV cabinet and the bookcase are located.
In the same way, the kitchen has the possibility to open or close with respect to the dining area through an additional sliding door which acts as a counterbalance to the external view of the city.
The chromatic choices of the furniture aim to establish a continuous "dialogue" between the spaces, generating a sort of "visual path" in continuous encounter/contrast with the natural and artificial light of the project.
