CASA LUCÍA
The project is based on the renovation of an old house located in one of the neighborhoods near University City of Madrid, where large housing buildings were built during the 1970s.
The intervention demolished the excessive internal sub-divisions of original house, and reorganizes spaces of similar use, assuming the existing structural system naturally. Thus, generously proportioned spaces are obtained, where natural light and beautiful views emerges as authentic spatial values of the building.
Access to the dwelling is nuanced by a double pivoting system of solid oak wood slats, which add a certain flexibility of use, while providing required privacy. A new interior hall serves as link between common areas (living-dining room and kitchen) and privacy áreas (toilets and bedrooms), expanding interior diagonal views.
Spatial continuity is achieved by installing a solid oak wood flooring on floors, while white finish on walls and ceilings, with built-in joinery and skirting boards, confers a space of great serenity. Oak wood finishes on closets and window frames add more warmth to the set of spaces.
