House in Durango
Programmatic thick facade
The commission consisted of carrying out a comprehensive reform of a two-story house with a garden in the historic center of Durango. The strategy has been based on creating a thick programmatic wall on the south façade capable of meeting the needs of each area. This wall houses a laundry area, a dining room, a office, an internal staircase that connects the main living room with the ground floor living room and an integrated kitchen. In addition, it extends beyond the interior of the house into the garden, blurring the interior exterior limits. The external connection between the garden and the living room is also made possible thanks to a metal staircase integrated into the thick wall.
The material strategy has consisted in the creation of a neutral and white container where objects made of oak are inserted. An atmosphere has been sought that optimizes natural lighting and the feeling of shelter and tranquility.
