Champs du Vent
The project was inspired by the wind rustling through the leaves of a tree. The project sings like leaves shivering. It interprets the tree through its architecture. Thus, the trunk enfolds branches, themselves dressed in wooden leaves. The leaves, held to the branches by string, are lifted by the wind to reveal innumerable ephemeral views. When they clap back shut, all together or one by one, the project sings and resonates with nearby trees and cow bells from surrounding fields. On calmer days, it sits in silence with the prairie. The curious might lift a wooden leaf and look through the little opening like through a lockhole. A window frames a faraway church sitting on the mountain across from the field. Looking up, direct lines of light pass through strings of leaves. The project offers to witness and experience a tree under wind and light.
