Sieben Kapellen
Photo essay by CÉLIA UHALDE
Sieben Kapellen (Seven Chapels) is an architectural project by the Siegfried and Elfriede Denzel Foundation, in which seven chapels were built along the Swabian Danube Cycle Path in 2018.
Each of the seven modern chapels was designed by a different and renowned architect.
District curator Peter Fassl developed the project in February 2017 on behalf of the foundation. The only stipulation from him to the architects was: "In each chapel, a cross is given in terms of design."
Another condition: The chapels must be accessible to everyone at all times.
A new sign system is to be created at selected locations along the cycle paths, inviting cyclists to stop, rest, reflect and shelter.
