Started from the idea of keeping half of the existing volume and enhance the other half, this intervention accommodates new space and programs for a young couple and two cats.
Considering the small footprint and built area; walls, partitions, the divider in the existing were removed to let natural light and ventilation into the house and give a more spacious and flexible movement inside the space. The relation between the public and private areas is defined by different elevations, not by walls.
The connection between the existing and the new volume (mezzanine and ground) is maintained in the form of openings, based on the shape of elements that were present in the existing volume (roof shape, wall opening).
These openings become the main set for various events that could happen inside the space.
