Peppino 1950
The new project "Peppino 1950" recovers the tradition and craftsmanship that for 70 years have distinguished the delicious dishes prepared by the homonymous owner. The restaurant, which has been always an important point of reference for the local community, is located in the historical centre of Campofranco, a small Sicilian town. Its 140 square meters’ space, is articulated through different rooms and architectural moments.
The entrance is created thanks to large openings framed by slabs made of moccaccino marble and enhanced by handcrafted rust-coloured wrought iron stained glass windows.
The floor and walls of the first room are characterized by soft colours and ash wooden elements that recall the territory. The protagonist of the area is the circular counter that houses the rotisserie and the diner along with the corresponding lamp that crowns it. This, is surrounded by several shelves on which local gastronomy products and books are located, which allow to transform the ledges into a territorial showcase.
Crossing a wooden threshold and a door with two opaque glasses, the visitor is immersed within the restaurant. This is characterized by two environments: the first is a 22 square meters’ bistrot with olive green walls and ash wooden benches, that define an intimate space ideal for lunches and aperitifs. On its right are the toilets, with two bathrooms and a common space with a full-height mirror and a freestanding ceramic sink made by Ceramiche Bevilacqua. The bistrot area anticipates the 42 square meters’ restaurant: a simple styled space with a panoramic window framing the green of the public municipal villa.
Finally, the 30 square meters’ kitchen was built with light colours in order to highlight the aluminium elements for the preparation of food, and its external area is equipped with a small vegetable garden, useful for the internal supply of spices and odours for the kitchen.
