Student Residence Lutterterrasse Göttingen
At the southern edge of the north campus of the University of Göttingen, the new student residence Lutterterrasse was realized between the institute buildings and the refectory to the north and the adjacent arboretum to the south.
The five-story building with an inner courtyard takes up the height and alignment of the institute buildings and, together with the existing development, formulates a clear edge to the adjacent arboretum. Embedded in the surrounding greenery, the dormitory serves as a new home for 265 students.
The dormitory’s generously roofed outdoor area allows students to arrive at the dormitory appropriately, even in bad weather, while protecting the community terrace to the south, all bicycle parking spaces, and the mailbox system.
The first floor with the spacious community terrace is the communicative part of the residence hall and serves as a meeting place for the residents. Here you will find the house administration, multi-purpose room, music room, tutor room and laundry room.
The four floors above are reserved exclusively for living. The 265 compact residential units were built as room modules from solid wood with maximum prefabrication and a very short construction time. Each unit has its own bathroom and a kitchen unit which is integrated into a multifunctional unit. The visible wooden surfaces in the interior provide a healthy indoor climate and give the residential units a warm and calm living atmosphere.
