Sybarite worked with SKP Xi’an, the largest luxury department store in the world, to develop a futuristic and immersive cinema to complement SKP’s recognisable brand and identifiable curved architectural identity. The destination includes seven screens, a VIP event space and Green Room, VIP Halls, a Kids Hall and a Love Hall and multiple branded point of sale areas. Particular attention was paid to pre and post cinema gathering in the upscale bar areas and Rendez-Vous café offerings.
A strong statement – each of the screens have their own individual colour identity and a signature geometrical stacking effect across the ceiling and walls similar to that of an armadillo shell. This curvaceous architectural cocooning connects the ceiling and the walls, enhanced further by a diffused wash of light that radiates from behind.
The palette of marbles and brushed metals are part of the SKP material family, although subtly tweaked tonally to have a unique aesthetic. Textured fabrics and bold colours of teal and rose are injected into the space to make that purposeful point of difference.
