BRANCION
A PANORAMIC BUILDING
This building project is inspired by its exceptional location on the edge of Georges Brassens Park.
On a site constrained by its joint ownership, we have designed a building largely turned towards the park. Founded upon this panoramic disposition, our project is part of the perpetual renewal of the Parisian building type, drawing, in particular, on the formal language of the first modern adjoining buildings.
A SCULPTURAL AND DOMESTIC ARCHITECTURE
Our intention is to offer a sculptural and domestic architecture which prioritizes habitability and openness in order to take full advantage of the panoramic qualities of the site.
The scale of the building calls for a unitary vision. With only one family apartment proposed per floor, the building offers a single large ribbon window to each apartment, fully open to the park. Trapezoidal balconies facing the south take advantage of the space created by the withdrawal of a neighbouring building. By playing with the urban volume, the gradient of the upper levels allow for the creation of terraces on the final floors.
Bevelled work on the adjoining façades provides hidden views towards the park from the heart of the courtyard and offers secondary views to light and ventilate the kitchens, bathrooms and stair landings
All of these devices, centred around the quality of use, lead to a tapered and abstract figure.
A SOPHISTICATED MATERIALITY
The use of aluminium cladding contributes to the unitary character of the building and accentuates its prismatic and sculptural silhouette, without structural expression. Upon approach, the materiality reveals a more nuanced aspect, that of its tight and regular metallic texture. The stamped aluminium cladding generates a certain sophistication, creating moiré effects which thus refine the expression and qualify the identity of the building.
