The intervention aims to give continuity to Raúl Tojal [1900 - 1969] 1942 project for a housing building in Lisbon. The intervened unit was almost original, including its oil-based paint.
The formality from the past 1940’s gives way to a spatial fluidity. The old servants room, how it was then named, is transformed into two sanitary units and from the old sanitary units a room was created. The kitchen opened towards the living-room(s) and to the back balcony, benefiting from their light.
The long corridor takes part in this fusion, becoming a space and not in circulation. The crossed light brings it life.
The original cork pavement did not survived, being replaced by solid wood parquet – Scots Pine and Sucupira.
In the end all is the same, only different.
