Huis Perrekes
Residential center for people with dementia
Huis Perrekes was founded in 1986 and provides care and guidance for people with dementia in the context of small-scale, normalized living. The villa is the former home of the doctor of the village of Oosterlo and will become a place for short stays, day care, night care and outpatient tailored care.
The program consists of 4 elements, each with its own character, the villa itself, the extension, the garden pavilion and the garden. A new exciting circuit of different parts of the doctor's villa is created, always in strong relationship to the garden. The extension is a low building almost detached from the villa with 10 bedrooms and on the head of it in the garden a music therapy room. The garden pavilion is a satellite of the villa and is a destination in itself for seclusion, as a meeting place, as rehearsal space for the choir de Betties. The garden is the connecting element between the villa, the music room, the pavilion and the village and also offers space for temporary installations, art events, the annual spring festival, etc.
The master plan is a foundation for the operation of Huis Perrekes in an intense and active way with the village fabric of Oosterlo to be interwoven. To this end, we use the 'yard model' in which the public and private outdoor spaces interlock. On the street side we provide assisted living apartments and a nursery and on the other side in the former doctor's villa a care board with day care and short stay. In the master plan, we develop a new housing typology that will be placed centrally on the site, behind the animal meadow, with a central, green, perforated corridor. Plants and animals are key words; conservatories are integrated in the houses, the patios are green and the animals are close by for all residents.
