House a Montreuil
Residential Urban Site.
The house dates from the beginning of the twentieth century. A first extension was built in the 1990's, expanding the ground floor and strongly alter the facade on the garden.
The objective of the project was the expansion of the house.
The strategy is to make the garden more accessible and visible from the inside. This visual and physical extension aims to increase the built space.
The project proposes to insert a level in between the ground floor and the garden and including a living room wide open on the outside. This level is located on a bench height above the garden and a shoulder height below the ground floor.
It is accessible by a staircase-library.
A large sliding glass bay occupies the entire façade.
The access staircase to the R + 1 is moved outside, in the gap between the house and the neighboring wall, releasing.
Upstairs are created two bedrooms sharing in two the roof volume.
The facades, despite the lightness of the fine and long Douglas Blades, develop a monumental nature through the symmetry and the large opening of the ground floor.
Stripped of all the syndromes of a classical house (balcony, railings, awning ...), it expresses its simplicity by primary forms enveloping the complexity of the inner life.
The house is built in pine wood frame with a grayed out Douglas exterior siding. Thermal insulation in wood fiber panels. Natural zinc cover. Exterior carpentry in lacquered aluminium. Work or laminate plywood furniture. Parquet in Solid oak. All PEFC certified wood.
