Parque SUR 23
The project, located in an area of 2,200 square meters is divided by a path, an irregular path created from the usual routes of the neighbors and users, which the dutch define as olifantenpaadjes. Two independent spaces that make up the park, and that are experienced in isolation, the idea is to link a fast football field with constitute one of the few vegetated and totally public areas in Valle de Chalco. Achieve that through the contained activities and new space programming, we can not only physically link spaces, but the community finds a meeting point and a landmark on this site.
Xico, such as the historical area, the hull and the oldest part of the municipality and one of the areas that even Dr. Átl (one of the greatest mexican Impressionist painters of the twentieth century) was able to capture through his paintings, an area that produced the most genuine and magical sensations in the east of Mexico City.
According to the CONEVAL (National Council for Evaluation of Social Development Policy) of its more than 266 thousand inhabitants, in Valle de Chalco only 46 thousand are NOT in a vulnerable or poverty situation. The space to intervene, an area right on the side at the skirts of what was the Xico Volcano, a perfect and circular agglomerate. Its ring shape later defines the concept and identity of this new park. This space, as one of the "red spotlights" of the area and as a point of concentration for the sale, purchase and consumption of drugs during the day.
To participate, to observe and to coexist are activities that allow us to see beyond the obvious things and all that might happen in the area, the soccer and the direct approach with the community as part of a social construction, a pastime that connecy, allows bonding through the game, an event that does not distinguish social classes and grants those who are part of that moment the possibility of integrating as a team.
A 16.00 m wide x 28.00 m long court as a compositional axis, an essential part of the project that proposes its relocation according to the North-South axis, allowing greater use of it throughout the day. With the experiences gathered in Cancha “La Doce” a project located in the same municipality, tools and approach techniques were developed to meet the neighbours and the community.
The design and the assembly allows the filtration of rainwater, thus achieving the replenishment of the Laguna de Xico. The project responds to the ever-changing needs of an area historically important to Mexico City and the Valley of Anahuac that through its people and character is part of an ever-present, untamed periphery, but with the arms always open.
