Stairs to the Castle hill
The plan for staircases and a path on the western slope of Bratislava castle is the missing ingredient of the pedestrian promenade built around the fortifications. ARCHITEKTI mikulaj & mikulajová designed two wooden staircases on the slope that are joined by a path leading around the fortifications.
Their contribution is quite small in terms of the size of the of the castle hill but the positive result in real terms is invaluable for the work. The massive wooden construction of the staircase is framed with a simple steel railing that has visually lightened the work and given it a contemporary look.
The architects have creatively enhanced the existing spatial context and opened the „dormant“ potential of this lately forgotten space.
