House in Izumi_ohimiya
House in Izumi-Ohmiya, a project converting a warehouse into residence.
Located in Kishiwada, the south of Osaka, this house was converted from a warehouse for a young couple. They like bouldering, a form of rock climbing that is performed without the use of ropes or harnesses. This became an inspirational source for the main gesture in the reconfiguration. Minimizing changes in the existing structure, the spatial quality was changed drastically by new walls lean to divide space. In some parts of these walls, holds are bolted for their practice.
Due to the lack of thermal insulation and water proofing performance, the original exterior ALC walls are replaced by corrugated iron composite panels. The large space is heated up by a floor heating with heat storage newly placed on the existing slab. The shutters were replaced by a big window, and a translucent corrugated polycarbonate wall was built in front of the garage to protect their privacy. The house is full of light for young couple, who enjoy DIY as well as bouldering there.
