The project is a small local museum on the island of Frøya, at the outer most coast of Norway. The building is inspired by the local building tradition “Notheng” (net-hang), - large open constructions where fishermen would hang their nets to dry. In addition to this practical use, these open buildings would often be utilized for social gathering, simply because they were often the largest building in the community.
The museum on Frøya will exhibit the local municipality’s wide collection of historical objects, art and photography from the coastal environment in the region. The building is planned to be part of a larger collection of old buildings and constructions, aiming to create a vivid and exciting outdoor museum at Sistranda / Frøya.
