The interior of the FanFood pizzeria designed by the Bureau Mast harmoniously combines Soviet aesthetics with Italian architectural attributes.
Vladislav Gaiduk and Vasily Korotkov from the architectural Bureau Mast designed the interior of a new pizzeria FanFood at the metro station “Dynamo”, near the stadium “VTB arena”. Their goal consisted in making a budget interior. “The pizzeria is designed for high attendance and the prices are low. Office workers from neighboring buildings, football or music fans can come here after matches or concerts, which are constantly held at the stadium,” Vladislav says. He and his partner could not ignore the fact of neighboring with such a structure and tried to include the attributes of Italy, the birthplace of pizza and football, in the interior.
“We made an open kitchen and constructed a bar counter, so there was no place for seating but along the walls, at the windows overlooking the Petrovsky Park,” explains the architect of the pizzeria layout. This space with a seven-meters ceiling was designed by constructing arches. They scale the room, visually hide the communications under the ceiling and at the same time zone the seats.
The floor of the whole room was paved with stone, the walls were left concrete, the kitchen island was also made of concrete, and the bar counter - of boards. “We have minimized the amount of finishing materials so that the space will be perceived as a whole. And the coldness of stone and concrete was compensated by wood.”
Vladislav and Vasily developed the football theme, including the blue colour in the interior — the color of the football club “Dynamo”. The ventilation pipes, doors, shelves, as well as fragments of the kitchen island and of the bar counter are painted blue. But the icing on the cake is a ceramic panel with the image of Lev Yashin on a wall. “We were inspired by the Soviet avant-garde and could not ignore the football theme, - says Vasily - so the panels with the legendary goalkeeper were made in the style of Alexander Deineka.”
It is symbolic that the pizzeria was opened on the day of the last NFL match in 2018/2019 season, which was held at VTB Arena.
