THE ICON VIENNA
BEHF Architects and German architectural firm JSWD Architekten have joined forces to develop THE ICON VIENNA with a total area of around 135,000 m2. The result is an architectural showcase project that stands for innovative and sustainable urban development: the three towers of different heights (88.00 m, 66.00 m, and 38.50 m) impress with their individuality and relation to one another as well as with their openness to the city. The plinth which combines the towers is an interactive space with a variety of shopping and catering areas. With its soft shapes, the trio enables an easy flow of visitors between the towers and through the district. Rather than functioning as an individual structure, THE ICON VIENNA opens up to the city and carefully unites the existing buildings around the Belvedere and the train station.
Bustling plinth as a new public space
The plinth connects the towers with the neighbouring facilities and opens the site towards Vienna Central Train Station, allowing direct access to the train station and public transport services of Vienna’s underground and urban line networks. With five passageways and a variety of business and shopping areas, the open plinth invites neighbours and passers-by to shop and stroll. The lively plinth thus becomes an attractive encounter area, an experience space, and a neighbourhood that not only functions as a unique destination but opens up towards the vibrant district.
Business location with renowned tenants
Behind a generous glass facade, high quality office spaces for about 5,700 employees have been created on approximately 79,000 square metres of rental space. Thanks to their exceptional flexibility and the optimum use of space, the buildings are suited to various uses and office layouts precisely to tenants’ needs, be it open plan or closed offices. The three office towers provide breath-taking, panoramic views of the city of Vienna through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The newly developed office spaces, which are rapidly becoming part of employer attractiveness, contribute to the success of THE ICON VIENNA. Famous name companies such as BAWAG, Austrian tax consulting and auditing company TPA, Nestlé, L’ORÉAL, and Procter & Gamble have already moved into THE ICON VIENNA. More than 5,000 people work in the three office buildings and around ten percent of the office space is rented to the co-working space providers Regus and Spaces.
