One House
There is a farming house in a site with an area of 670m2 after a steep slope with a height of 60m from the access road. The client wanted to build a house for living with his parents in a lonesome quiet town. After that, he visited our architectural firm to ask for a design of a new house and this is how our project started. He asked us to design a new house to live alone next to the existing farming house in the lot that was built for his parents.
This house should be equipped with the first floor that is used as a kitchen and a warehouse and the second floor that is used as a room and connected to the existing farming house. In other words, he wanted to use the first floor as an external space and a shared space inside the house and the second floor as a private space. Before the client met the architect, he drew up a floor plan to guess the arrangement and the size and studied data about various eco-friendly materials and facilities hard. Therefore, checking and sharing a lot of data, he thought of the construction technique for the house that he wanted, along with us. The design started in October 2018 and ended in February of the following year. In particular, we organized the drawing in detail developing six alternatives and sharing the model and 3D modeling data with the client, since we might have to draw up a new floor plane when only the furniture position changed, although it was a small house. According to the arrangement plan, we located the new building for the client inside the right side of the existing building. The building should be connected to the space for his parents via the kitchen and the multi-use room. But it was close to the border line of lot and due to the outside path, the area of the space on the first floor was only 20m2. Therefore, we designed 1m of the second floor as a cantilever structure to expand the space and we manufactured furniture using the curved walls to improve its practicality. We also made it possible to see a panorama view, at the same time.
