The project builds the season 2018 showroom space in Barcelona for the trans-geographic and multidisciplinary fashion project called 101_SHXHBWRRTNM, defined by, among other things, being a creative union of four designers coming from four different backgrounds (clothes, shoes, jewelry and visual arts) that work from different cities in the European continent (Barcelona, Madrid and Rotterdam).
101_SHXHBWRRTNM could be a clear example of the new models of contemporary creation, where the role of a one only designer-author is substituted by an experience that learns from the collective and the decentralized. These models are born out of the bizarre hybrid created out of the development of new information technologies and the Freedom of Movement European Agreements. In order to give an answer to this situation, the project opts for choosing the configuration of a unique continuous space with the shape of a carp that allows a total vision of all the pieces that belong to the fashion collection at the same time that it creates a space for gathering and conversation between the clients, media and designers.
The project is built out of the assembling of more than 1500 lineal meters of white paper roll, and it is also an attempt of laboratory about the expressive and formal possibilities of a material with an easy ecological and recyclable traceability as it is the paper, experimenting from the deliberated formation of folds or wrinkles, that will perform then as architecture. Finally, the main space is occupied by a handmade structure built for the occasion out of foam, string and flowers (elements that are have a leading role in the pieces of the collection), that is hanged as a chandelier and it floats over the audience incorporating to the space an unexpected scale and a new focus of attention.
Phyla (plural of Phylum) is the basic level of division in the Animal Kingdom and can be referred to a grouping of animals base on its general plan of organization. Thus, such different animals as clams, snails or octopuses can be grouped in the phylum Mollusca, because they have a basic plan of organization in common.
