Artistic Residence
The surrounding urban context became a starting point for the interior of a Kyiv apartment. The apartment building is located in Kyiv, in a historical quarter with deep history, that’s why the authors and the owners agreed on transferring the historical spirit of the city into the interior and making it a favorable background for modern design and art objects. It resulted in an artistic interior that creates harmonious atmosphere, with art objects and personal space for each family member.
The style chosen for this project is based on colors, sophisticated combinations of textures, and original objects, most of which were exclusively developed by the studio.
The living room has a number of unconventional solutions: the ceiling that makes you want to look at if forever, an unusual chandelier and a copper screen.
The ceiling is a reference to classic molded canopies in ancient interiors. In this case, the authors included some humor into this design element: instead of the usual ringlets, the ceiling was decorated with charming squirrels frolicking in the leaves. The chandelier is a contrast point in the white background, with its numerous cobalt-colored glass elements.
The hall and the living room are visually separated by a copper screen. Its numerous flat surfaces reflect light beautifully, filling the room with patches of light and shadows. The dim ‘Scandinavian’ blue shade on the walls and textile visually structures all elements around that are active by color and mood.
The main point of the bedroom is a beautiful duo of terracotta and deep blue colors combined with warm wooden surfaces and a copper screen. The teenager’s bedroom is decorated in grey and beige shades with points such as Scottish Checks curtains and a bright abstract carpet.
In the kitchen and dining room area, the wall painted in deep grey serves a uniting element. The painting by a Ukrainian painter Alexander Roytburd looks impressive at such background. The picture is completed by a massive dining table from raw textured wood.
There are many natural materials in the interior: wood, glass, stone, copper — the benefits of their texture are fully revealed with the help of well-applied color solutions. The interior matches the multi-faced Kyiv city: it is bright, cozy, slightly vintage, and at the same time modern.
