STAND EINA 16 / 17
The project for the new EINA Stand in the Studies Fair is aimed at making a wrapping that, with a single material and a unique system, is able to wrap and clothe those who enter their space.
The project for the new EINA Stand in the Studies Fair is aimed at making a wrapping that, with a single material and a unique system, is able to wrap and clothe those who enter their space.
Like many other fairs, the Studies Fair is a competition between different institutions to attract the attention of future students. This tends to generate a heterogeneous visual noise between all of the stands. The proposal intends to detach itself from this heterogeneity through a maximum simplicity in form, materiality and color, so that the space stands out for its simplicity in a disparate environment.
From this premise, the stand serves as a wrapper that embraces visitors in a space where the university center program is developed: a large central table where teachers can resolve the inquiries of future students, and a space where they can see some of the work that is carried out at EINA. For this visualization, a special foot was made, as if it were a character, which supports 3-D image viewers, so that a game is made of the wait and the inqueries about the work.
The wrapping is constrained by a rope fixed to different heights and distances through a simple system of cuts in the wood and locks, so that its positioning can be accompished in an extremely simple way. The displacements both in height and in the horizontal plane generate, through repetition, a surface with different planes, simulating a paper or a wrapping that welcomes us.
The 2016 stand was made with yellow rope on a blue background, and that of 2017 with red rope on a green background. These complementary colors add a powerful layer of complexity in their perception that adds to that produced by the different perimeter planes. The result is a powerful space which is in complete simplicity but offers a great variety of possible perceptions to the users.
