Ladurée Aoyama
The internationally recognizable pastel colors and the Versailles inspired aesthetic of the Ladurée brand have been given a modern twist by renowned Paris-based architect & designer India Mahdavi.
Following the excitement and acclaim for her bespoke design for Ladurée in Quai des Bergues, Geneva (2016) and North Beverly Drive, Los Angeles (2017), India Mahdavi takes Marie Antoinette to her next destination: Tokyo. Located in the heart of Omotesando, this new salon de thé seems to have popped out of a fairy tale, where Marie Antoinette meets kawaii chic.
"Ladurée is a garden of delights", says India Mahdavi.
The walls are adorned with a pop version of white garden latticework, punctuated of flower lights. The bespoke furniture and decorative lighting are a tribute to gourmandise and softness: scalloped plush banquettes, twisting candy stick tables on a grey&white graphic marble floor, blown glass lamps enhancing the celadon green walls, meringue ceiling lights... India Mahdavi takes us on a magical tour through an imaginary garden filled with delicacies.
"I am here to bring joy, and Ladurée's essence is closely connected to enjoyment. When the delicate meets taste. I wanted to bring some Frenchness to Tokyo and make this place a full experience inside and outside."
