MARISEL’S HOME
This home was meant for two people. Besides giving the home the function required, we were concerned about the location of the field towards the street.
For that reason, a wall is built between the field and the sidewalk, another higher wall closes the house, and a long and deep ceiling protects the only entrance that communicates the house to the street.
The house was built in the middle of the field, so, it has a front garden and a backyard. To the east of the main and only living room, it is possible to see the sky and the backyard, but to the west, nothing, only noises.
This gives shape to the main idea of the property, to keep privacy from public and roadside. This is a dynamic house with flexible spaces and the design can be appreciated in every detail.
The central module which is double-height and has zenithal light and waffle slab, becomes the focal point and linking spot of the whole building. There are floating stairs made in concrete, that besides connecting the living room and the mezzanine floor, is set as a sculpture.
There wasn’t anything, neither the concept of the work nor the most insignificant details that both, the architect and the owner had not participated together. It was a project that we started and finished together. She was my ex-wife.
