Steam on the Platte
This once derelict building had been a soap factory and rag baling facility since its construction in 1918, before boarding up its windows in the mid-80s. tres birds set out to open up the space, finding opportunities for fresh air and natural light. In accordance with tres birds’ ongoing environmental stewardship, any original materials that could be salvaged were. The recessed front doors open to a cafe and three story rag baler: a remnant from the building’s days as a rag recycling facility, now polished and encircled by a custom, glulam wood staircase.
